I haven't heard a peep from A&B. I sent an email, asking for contact info, and then called the following day. Haven't heard back- someone else ought to step in, I think.
I asked for the contact info presumably for planning the shower, but hey- we need to get this ball rolling with the flashcards, if it's really going to happen. People need a little time to get their card prepared.
So let's roll, baby!
I've also come to understand that baby showers are for
showering the parents with love and presents. The whole thing is about gifts- people helping out with the expense of raising a baby. What a strange world we live in.

So we three are the planners for Baby-Shower-Extraordinaire for Anna &
Bob in Dec. I propose we start this ball rolling! I have no clue about
what happens at a b.s. or how to plan one, so I'll do a bit of research
this weekend.
I've put a request in with A&B to supply us the contact info for a) those
people they want at the shower, and b) those people they want to announce
the baby to. I figure these two go hand in hand, since it's all about the
*gifts* anyway. Am I wrong?
So they I guess we gotta decide stuff like
- date and time
- who's coming
- location
- what the hell do we do at one of these things?
This also ties into Karaab & Mike's fabulous idea to create a set of
flashcards for Trucker. Nick- you weren't there: the idea is that we
recruit their friends to each create an image for a letter of the
alphabet. Karaab (or James, if we need him) will create a letter template
for each card, and Mike'll print them all out on stock paper to laminate
or something. Mike's gonna be in charge of contacting everyone, as soon
as we get some email addresses from A&B.
To get this ball rolling, we need to come up with the parameters of who
to include in this project. Mike and I have discussed this a fair amount,
and we were thinking about a couple possibilities- what do you think of
these:
a) No family at all- just friends.
b) Only "immediate family," i.e. Janie, Dave, Vinnie, and Bob's side (5
of them)
c) Only "one generation" of family- no parent-types. i.e. siblings and
cousins
I think the idea here was that if we try to do "all family," we're
definitely bound to fuck up. Plus there are 10 thousand people to
include, and there are only 26 letters in the alphabet. Mike and I also
talked about how it's not a terrible idea to have some double-ups on
letters, if the numbers don't work, but we can't try to include everyone,
now can we.
So on that note, we started a little list to start with. Please add to
it.
SF: Karaab, Nick, Candace, Doug
Montreal: Terry, Shiv, James
Toronto: Peter, Sofi, Leni, Ruth, Nigel
Other: Mike, Melissa, Jason, Marla
Siblings: Vinnie, Trish, Susan, Kathy
Cousins: Martha, Rufus, Lily, Sylvan
There's 24 here! And what about the lots of "second tier" folks? Should
we keep it small and intimate like this, or open it up? (I'm inclined to
keep it smallish)
